This programme, also known as GenerationQ, is a prestigious, stimulating and highly relevant part-time leadership programme for senior leaders in health in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It was developed by Ashridge and funded by The Health Foundation. Participants can elect to study for a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or the full Masters programme leading to a Masters (MSc) in Leadership (Quality Improvement).

GenerationQ aims to develop skilled and effective clinical and non-clinical leaders for quality improvement in health across all four countries of the UK. Equal attention to the latest thinking and research in both the ‘harder’ side of change, in terms of improvement methodologies, and the ‘softer’ side of change, in terms of leadership. It is grounded in both the art and the science of engaging others in improving quality. It is founded upon critical analysis of current research and theory which has practical relevance to leaders actually ‘out there’ leading improvement, making a difference to patients and the front line.
The programme offers support and challenge from faculty and participants to enable a lasting and positive impact in your organisation, during and beyond the programme. This is encapsulated in the notion of ‘Ambition into Practice’, which enables you to take your learning back into your organisation.
Learning is through residential leadership forums at Ashridge; through action learning and one to one coaching; and through personal reading, writing assignments and experimenting with doing things differently in practice.
GenerationQ is designed to equip participants with the skills to drive forward and influence improvements across services and organisations. During the programme you will have the opportunity to research and implement a significant improvement project within your workplace and will have the support of individual executive coaching.
