Please ensure you apply well before the application deadline. This will give you time to prepare for the programme, familiarise yourself with the online resources provided and complete the required study skills pre-work prior to the programme start date.

Application process

It's easy to apply online for this qualification. You will need to set up a username and password the first time you access the application portal. You don't have to complete the application in one session; you can save what you have done so far and return to complete it at a later date.

Once we have received your completed application form and references, we aim to update you within ten working days with a decision.

Entry requirements

  • An undergraduate degree, equivalent qualification or a minimum of three years’ professional experience in any sector
  • As the programme is delivered and assessed in English, you will need to demonstrate a proficiency to study in English at Masters level
  • Ideally you will have a degree which was taught and assessed in English and/or significant professional experience of using spoken and written English. Applicants may be asked to satisfy IELTS/TOEFL standards (minimum spoken and written scores of IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL IBT 100 or Pearson Test of English Academic 60)

English Language Ability

If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of strong English language skills via a recognised secure English language test such as IELTS (minimum score of seven) or through your employment. If you have not already taken a formal English language test, you may apply anyway for this qualification and Ashridge will inform you if they think a formal test will be required.

English language support

If you require additional support with your English language proficiency, we recommend attending an intensive English language programme with an organisation such as EF. Host family accommodation and meals are included in the programme fee, and classes can be taken either individually, in small seminar groups or via the iLab, and comprise up to 40 lessons per week (40 minutes duration).

Students of the EF Executive English Institute also benefit from:
•    six months’ access to iLab, so that you can continue your studies after your course has finished, at work or at home.
•    one year’s Premium access to the award-winning virtual English school, so that you are able to further improve on everything that you have learned, and includes unlimited access to teacher led virtual conversation classes.

Full details can be found in the EF brochure.

Time commitment

Depending on your previous experience, we estimate that the degree will take 24 months to complete, based on regular study of approximately 15-20 hours per week. With careful time management and delegation skills, you should be able to balance a full-time job and family commitments with this investment in your career development.

Other programme requirements

Personal

It is vital that, as you will be studying virtually, you have the personal motivation to benefit from the programme. You will be expected to contribute to classroom discussions by sharing your personal experiences and perspectives with the group. You need to work for (or have a relationship with) an organisation for which you can undertake work-based assignments. You need regular access to a computer with reliable internet connection, preferably at broadband speeds, to enable you to access the programme’s online learning resources.

IT literacy

You will need good IT skills and need to know how to use the internet for research purposes. You should also be familiar with social media networks. In order to access Virtual Ashridge (see below), we recommend that you have access to the following:

  • A PC or Mac computer with unrestricted internet access
  • 124k modem or higher (broadband strongly recommended)
  • A supported internet browser (Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or higher or Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher)
  • Access to a webcam, microphone and a printer (optional)
  • A cable connection – if you use wireless, internet connection can be slow; using a cable can significantly improve connection speed and therefore the performance of Virtual Ashridge.

We recommend that you download the latest versions of the following browsers:

  • Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome
  • Adobe Reader
  • Adobe Flash Player.
