Slowing the pace to accelerate success
In 2004, with the discovery of the world class Mangala field in Rajasthan, Cairn Energy rocketed into the FTSE 100 and its share price rose sharply. That's not bad for a company that had existed for 26 years in a highly competitice sector where average company life expectancy is 15 years. Yet there is nothing dinosaurian about this fossil fuel producer. Headquartered in Scotland, with operations in India and Bangladesh, Cairn Energy plc is one of the UK's largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies.
