Olaf Groth is an executive, adviser and capacity builder with 20 years of experience developing new innovation ventures, institutions and ecosystems.
Dr Groth currently teaches and coaches future leaders as a Global Professor & Discipline Lead for Strategy, Innovation & Economics at HULT International Business School. From a home base in San Francisco he works throughout the school’s global network of campuses, which includes Boston, New York, London, Ashridge, Dubai and Shanghai. He also serves as Director of HULT’s new Global Center for Disruptive Innovation, which develops insights on trends and futures and their implications for managerial and organizational development for executives.
Dr Groth is founder and CEO of Emergent Frontiers Group LLC, which advises senior executives internationally on global trends, strategy, ecosystems and the commercial diplomacy needed to navigate them. He has held executive and advisory roles with Q.Cells North America, Monitor Group, Qualcomm, Boeing, Vodafone, AirTouch, and a transportation data venture helping develop new ventures with revenue streams between $20M and $2B. His consulting clients include Bechtel, Chevron, Siemens, VW, and Silicon Valley venture capitalists and startups.
He holds Ph.D., M.A.L.D., M.A.I.P.S. and B.A. degrees in International Affairs with concentrations in business, economics, technology and negotiation from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. He also studied negotiation at Harvard, trade economics at Georgetown University and finance at UC Berkeley.
