Olaf Groth is an executive, adviser and capacity builder with 20 years of experience developing new innovation strategies, ventures, organizations and ecosystems. As such, he was recently invited by the World Economic Forum to join its global Expert Network community to provide thought-leadership on business and societal strategies for disruptive trends, such as the 4th Industrial Revolution, IOT, Autonomous Vehicles and AI.

Olaf currently develops future leaders as a Global Professor for Strategy, Innovation, Management & Economics and Program Director for Digital Futures at HULT International Business School. He also serves on the Global Faculty Council as Lead for Strategy & Innovation. From a home base in San Francisco he works throughout the school’s global network of campuses, which includes Boston, New York, London, Ashridge, Dubai and Shanghai, and its international client locations.  

Olaf is founder and Managing Director of Emergent Frontiers Group LLC, which advises senior executives internationally on global trends, strategy, ecosystems and the commercial diplomacy and deals needed to navigate them. He has held executive and advisory roles with the likes of AirTouch, Boeing, Monitor, Q.Cells, Qualcomm, Vodafone, and a transportation data startup, helping develop new ventures with revenue streams between $20M and $2B. His consulting clients include Bechtel, Chevron, Phillips66, Siemens, VW, and Silicon Valley venture capitalists and startups.

Olaf frequently provides thought-leadership by speaking, chairing and moderating. He has been published in HBR, HBR France, Financial Times, LSE and Huffington Post blogs, Harvard Business Manager Deutschland, HBR Italia magazines, Today’s CFO and Thunderbird International Business Review magazines, World Financial Review, European Business Review, Democracy Today, and HULT-Ashridge public webinars.

Olaf holds Ph.D., M.A.L.D., M.A.I.P.S. and B.A. degrees in International Affairs with concentrations in business, economics, technology and negotiation from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. He also studied negotiation at Harvard, economics at Georgetown University and finance at UC Berkeley.
