Mike Malmgren

MSc, MBA, PhD

Dr Mike Malmgren is Dean of Faculty at Ashridge. His main interest is strategy innovation and how companies can create new value for themselves and their customers. His recent work includes a range of international clients such as Alfa Laval, Volvo, Electrolux, Volkswagen, Ericsson and Tetra Pak.

Mike has extensive experience as Managing Director for several international technology companies and he has lived and worked in Sweden, USA, Australia and the UK. His roles have involved managing organisational change through acquisitions and integration of companies as well as growth through international marketing to a range of industry sectors including automotive, chemical, power and paper.

Born in Sweden, Mike gained an MSc in Engineering in Stockholm. He then joined a Swedish international technology company before embarking on an international management career. Mike gained an MBA from London Business School which focused on strategy and issues relating to high tech start-up companies.

His recent Doctorate examined the role of procurement and outsourcing in multi-national organisations.

Inside the Core: Managing risks in Business Critical Outsourcing

Organizations are increasingly outsourcing business critical activities, which increases the risk of substantial negative impact on the financial and strategic business performance.
