John F. Mahon is the John M. Murphy Chair of International Business Policy and Strategy and Professor of Management at the Maine Business School, University of Maine. He was the founding director of the School of Policy and International Affairs at UM. Prior to his appointment at the University of Maine, Mahon was a Professor of Strategy and Policy and chair of the Strategy and Policy Department at the School of Management, Boston University. Professor Mahon has taught in a variety of executive education programmes in university settings, and has served as an executive educator and/or consultant for a variety of Fortune 500 firms and firms in Asia, Australia and Europe.
He is the author/co-author of over 275 cases, papers and book chapters and has won 12 national awards for his research and writing during the period 2008 - 2010. An article he co-authored was recognized as the most cited paper in the 50-year history of the peer reviewed journal Business & Society. Professor Mahon has won numerous awards for his teaching excellence at the local and national level and received the 2011 University of Maine Presidential Research and Creative Achievement Award and a 2014 National "Faculty Pioneer" Award from the Aspen Institute for a course dealing with Abrupt Climate Change, Business and Public Policy.
His current research interests include knowledge transfer in high velocity/turbulent environments and the process and implications of knowledge corruption in organizations.
He received his D.B.A. from Boston University, his M.B.A. (with honours) from Bryant College, and his B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
