Carina Paine Schofield

BSc (Hons), PGDip, PhD

Carina joined Ashridge in 2007 as a researcher in the Public Leadership Centre, and is now a Research Fellow working on a number of applied research projects. Her research interests are in the areas of psychology (cognitive, social, developmental and forensic) and technology (in particular, issues surrounding trust and privacy and in the effective use of technology in enhancing learning). She also provides research advice and support to Ashridge faculty and has strong links to the wider research team at Ashridge.

Carina has a first degree in Applied Psychology and Computing, a post graduate diploma in Psychology and a PhD in Psychology. Prior to joining Ashridge Carina worked as a research fellow and a consultant for The Open University. Most recently she worked as a researcher at Ipsos MORI.

The nature of Carina's research experience is interdisciplinary in terms of its strong link between theoretical and applied social science research in a number of settings. She has presented and published papers in the areas of psychology, computing and online research.

Carina is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Academy of Management (BAM)

The Challenge of Change for Public Sector Leaders

The chapter draws on the Public Management Index (PMI) inspired by design of the Ashridge Management Index (AMI), continuing research on the real lives of Ashridge participants. The results show many positive messages of ways public servants are taking on the challenges faced in the public sector and offer new perspectives on sharing ideas to address their leadership issues and enhance public service delivery.
