Erik de Haan, MSc, PhD - Programme Director

Erik+de Haan

Erik de Haan is the Director of Ashridge's Centre for Coaching and Professor of Organisation Development at the VU University Amsterdam. He joined Ashridge Business School in 2002. His consulting approach is informed by his counselling and team-dynamics training. He specialises in working with the organisational unconscious and in surfacing hidden levels of the company or group culture.

Erik's main areas of work are:

  • Process consulting for long-term organisational change, strategy formulation and implementation.
  • Facilitating management teams and working conferences.
  • Fostering team learning and development using techniques from peer consultation to action learning.
  • One-to-one coaching for executives and consultants, including career counselling.

Erik is Director of Ashridge's Centre for Coaching and Director of AMEC, Ashridge's Masters in Executive Coaching and ACOS, Ashridge's Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Coaching & Organisation Development Supervision.

David Birch BA, PGCE, MSc

David+Birch

David has over twenty years’ international experience in the field of people and organisation development. An accredited mediator, coach and psychotherapist, he has deep expertise in working collaboratively with senior executives, helping them develop their leadership and team working capabilities. As a coach and facilitator, he is able to quickly create a safe environment for honest reflection and dialogue, opening up new insights and perspectives on seemingly insoluble situations. The results are practical and immediate, delivering lasting improvements in individual and organisational performance.

Charlotte Sills MA, MSc (Psychotherapy), TSTA(ITAA), PGCE

Charlotte

Charlotte is Co-Director of the Coaching for Organisation Consultants programme and a member of faculty at Ashridge Consulting. She brings to this role more than 20 years experience as a practitioner of psychological therapy and as a teacher and supervisor of counsellors, therapists and coaches. She is a qualified integrative psychotherapist (with MSc in Transactional Analysis), UKCP registered and a BACP accredited supervisor. She has worked as a consultant/coach to individuals and small groups in a variety of settings, mainly in the field of health and social work.

Currently she maintains a small independent practice specialising in that interface between the personal and the professional. Charlotte has published widely in the field of learning partnerships including with Erik de Haan, Coaching Relationships (2011 London: Libri), with Phil Lapworth An Introduction to Transactional Analysis and with Phil and Billy Desmond An Introduction to Gestalt (both published by SAGE). She has won an award for her work developing a relational approach to facilitating development using transactional analysis; in other words, a focus on the relationship of the client to himself, to others in his life - including his coach - and to his organisation.

Michael Carroll MA, PhD

Michael Carroll

Michael is a visiting professor at Bristol University, a fellow of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, a chartered counselling psychologist, and a BACP-accredited supervisor.

He works as a counsellor, supervisor, trainer and consultant to organisations in the public and private sectors. He has published widely in the areas of workplace counselling and counselling supervision. He is an Accredited Executive Coach and an Accredited Executive Coach Supervisor with APECS.

Peter Hawkins PhD

Peter Hawkins, Chairman Renewal Associates, Emeritus Chairman Bath Consultancy Group, and Professor of Leadership at Henley Management College, is a leading coach, writer and researcher in leadership, team coaching and board development.  He has worked with many leading organisations in many parts of the world including Europe, South Africa, America and the Far East as organisational consultant, executive team and board coach and coach to senior leaders. Peter is a thought leader in executive coaching and team coaching, and is President of the Association of Professional Executive Coaching and Supervision (APECS).
