Ashridge Education and Skills

Ashridge Education and Skills (AES)

The education, learning and skills sector is vital to the UK economy. Ashridge Education and Skills is making a major contribution to support leaders and managers across different parts of this sector, enabling them to meet the challenge of delivering change, customer value and quality.

As Government and employers spend over £30billion a year on vocational training, AES is supporting further and higher education, training providers, the Learning and Skills Council, Sector Skills Councils and other stakeholders to develop their contribution to a high skills economy. As the school sector undergoes continuing change, AES is working with its partners to support the school Academies in their new challenges.

Research Projects

Following our work with colleges and training providers around employer responsiveness issues, Ashridge has established an action research project looking at partnership working in the education sector. In June 2008 AES held a workshop in which providers from public, private and voluntary organisations came to Ashridge to share their experiences and help shape our future work in this area. We published a research report outlining the learning from this event and in September 2008 held a second action research workshop on the same theme.

In the September workshop a group of clients and consultants with extensive experience of partnership working across all sectors discussed key issues around strategic partnership development. What are the key drivers? What dynamics are at play in partnerships? What are the criteria for success? AES has now published a second report: Are partnerships really worth it?in which some of these questions are explored. Read the full research report here.
