Frequently Asked Questions about the Virtual Learning Resource Centre

Can I access the VLRC as an individual?

Yes, if you are a member of Ashridge Alumni or a participant on open programmes or any qualifications programmes, including the MBA. Otherwise we do not currently offer subscriptions to individuals.

How can I connect to the VLRC?

The VLRC is an Internet resource. Most organisations provide a link to the VLRC on their corporate intranet. Other users access the resource at work or from home via the VLRC link on the Ashridge corporate website. The VLRC can also be supplied as a CD-ROM.

Does the VLRC require complex installation?

No. The VLRC and Ashridge’s Learning Portals are all hosted by Ashridge. You can choose to access the resource, either from a link on your company intranet, or from the Ashridge corporate website.

How often is content updated?

Ashridge faculty and associates are constantly working on new content and refresh the material regularly. New content is added weekly, the latest content is always shown on the Home Page.

The learning guides recommend videos, can I request these and other resources by post?

Unfortunately Ashridge cannot send videos by post. If you are a subscriber to the Library you can watch videos at Ashridge. VLRC corporate subscribers also have the ability to take books out on loan.

I have several suggestions for new Learning Guides and book summaries; can this content be added?

The majority of new VLRC content is client driven. Ashridge considers every request for additional material including book summaries, industry sector reports and learning guides and will add new content which it considers to be beneficial to the client base as a whole. Contact the VLRC with your request.

How do I know that my VLRC subscription is being used?

As a corporate subscriber, the main contact within your organisation will be provided with monthly reports showing the VLRC usage. Client Relationship Managers work with every client to identify ways to maximise return on investment.

Am I given support from Ashridge?

As a corporate subscriber, your Client Relationship Manager will provide you with marketing support and guidance to help you promote the VLRC within your organisation. This includes activities such as staff training sessions, VLRC demonstrations, events, email campaigns, posters and other promotional material.

How long does a customised learning portal take to complete and how many days work are involved?

This depends on the complexity of the project. Ashridge can deliver most projects within eight weeks of the initial briefing. For further details on the costing structure, contact the VLRC.
