Forthcoming books
This Autumn sees the publication of a number of Ashridge books. The Finishing Touch by Tony Cram to be published in October explores the importance of a strong finish for great customer experiences. The Art of Action by Stephen Bungay looks at how some military practices can be applied to aid managers in executing strategy. The Leader’s Guide to Influence by Mike Brent and Fiona Dent will help managers understand the critical aspects of managing relationships at work, influencing others and leading for success. Organisational Consulting @ the Edges of Possibility by Kathleen King and John Higgins presents the accounts of ten consultants who describe what happens when their work with clients challenges management orthodoxy. The book is being launched on 16 September in London. |

Journal of Public Affairs Special Issue: Unethical Leadership
Research Fellow, Professor Carla Millar, and faculty member, Roger Delves, are guest editors of a special issue of the Journal of Public Affairs on Unethical Leadership published in August 2010. The issue also features an article by Ashridge CEO, Kai Peters, and Research Fellow, Professor Kurt April. The special issue is one of two commissioned from the 2009 Ashridge International Research Conference: Global Leadership, Global Ethics. A special issue of the Journal of Business Ethics is due to be published in 2011. |

Worldly Leadership Summit
Ashridge is partnering with the Leadership Trust in running the second Worldly Leadership Summit at the Leadership Trust headquarters in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, on 6-7 September. Ashridge has conducted analysis on CEO perspectives on the role of management education for the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative. The research was carried out with the European Academic of Business in Society (EABIS) and supported by Accenture. The study found that CEOs believe strongly that management education needs to change to help their organisations adapt to a changing context.

The Centre for Action Research is the latest Research Centre to be established at Ashridge. Action Research generates new knowledge through addressing practical questions. It is carried out by practitioners on their own work, sometimes with the help of an external researcher, with the aim of understanding and improving the situation being studied. Gill Coleman, co-director of the Ashridge MSc in Sustainability and Responsibility and faculty member on the Ashridge Doctorate in Organisation Consulting, directs the Centre.

Ashridge is partnering with Stonewall, the lesbian, gay and bisexual charity on its flagship Leadership Programme. It is an intensive two-day residential programme for rising lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) professionals. The programme offers a unique LGB only space to help rising LGB leaders unlock their career potential and maximise their contribution to their organisation. Acceptance on the programme is via an application process. The Leadership Programme is part of Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme.

The National Skills Academy for Social Care has asked Ashridge to deliver its Aspiring Leaders Programme. Participants will be professionals working within a social care setting whether in the public, private or third sectors. The first Aspiring Leaders programme will begin in early October and will be held at Ashridge. |
